New system for kilns realization with advanced technologies

ITALFORNI, born by the experience and deep technical-scientific culture of Eng. Leone Padoa in 1977, could reach so far a high level of technical competence, innovation and reliability under the management of the actual President Mr. Pietro Mazzacani.

The actual technology, more and more advanced, requires to exploit in the best way the available energy, in order to get the maximum performance with the minimum environmental impact. ITALFORNI has gone in this way and reached considerable levels of success, above all in the production of dryers and kilns.

The success reached by ITALFORNI is mainly due to the study and application of new systems for kilns realization with advanced technologies, that guarantee: the best thermal performances with reduction of specific consumption, high flexibility of use and guarantee of long life with few maintenance.

Between the new systems in kilns realization, it is important to mention a new technology of building: the kiln has been studied to offer a higher flexibility of use in relation with the ones produced up to today. This kiln, in fact, is realized with a patented system by ITALFORNI, that excludes the use of every type of concrete or gluing refractory adhesive in the assembling of insulating bricks on walls and vaults in firing, cooling and pre-heating zones, where, being the working temperature very high, it would be necessary to use them.

Up to today, in standard kilns, bricks where fixed by refractory concretes with high tight capacity, that made walls and vault become rigid. This system put some limit in kiln use, especially if the kiln needs a higher flexibility, because of weekly stops, fast lowing down or raising up of temperatures, etc.
ITALFORNI’s kiln, on the contrary, being assembled without the use of concretes and cements, hasn’t any mechanical consequence due to close stops or sudden temperature variations.
ITALFORNI has searched and studied this particular building technology that allow to completely turn off the kiln for the necessary periods without energy consumption, to satisfy the exigencies of the customers that need a flexibility in the production, to follow the particular requests of the market or for different needs, such as the difficult finding of skilled workers, available to work or manage the plants during week-ends and festivity days too.

Please note that standard kilns, during short stops (for ex. Saturday and Sunday), must be kept turned on at about 700�C of temperature, to avoid damages to the refractory part. Obviously, this condition provokes great energy consumptions.

This is not the only advantage of this type of kiln, in fact, beyond the reduction of energy consumption, there are many other good reasons that make this system very convenient:

Less maintenance operations
There aren’t binders between the bricks, the single bricks are free to expand itself without provole breaking in the wall, as happens in standard kilns, where the binders doesn’t allow a free expansion of bricks when they are under thermal solicitations.

Less thermal conduction
ITALFORNI’s new building system allow a better insulation between the different thickness of bricks lining on walls.

Quick assembling
Being made without concrete, the assembling (or modification) times are about half-reduced.

Easy maintenance operations
Being a joint system, for maintenance operations it isn’t needed highly skilled personnel, such as qualified refractory bricklayers, because it can be made, following the building logic, by the charged personnel.

Materials recovery
In case of demolition of the kiln, bricks can all be recovered for other use, because, being not fixed with concrete, the can be easily disassembled.
